List of Lists = LoL

Versatile and scalable list app for Android

currently in development, work in progress

Motivation

Lists are simple and efficient tools for improving productivity and reducing error-rates.

Astronauts, pilots, and surgeons use checklists.

Anyone could use to-do-lists, shopping-lists and packing lists

There are many list apps on the Anroid Market but they do not support nested lists or are not versatile or scalable.

So far the best list app for Android is List Master Pro. But it has weaknesses: It is not possible to sort sublists between list-items. All lists are check-lists and it is not possible to hide the check-fields.

Main characteristics

Each list-item can itself become a list.
Each list-item can be linked into multiple lists.
Lists can be sorted manually. Each list-item can be moved up and down.

Tables

Item-table

An Item is a text-line or short text that is element of one list or more lists. The lists to which the element belongs is defined by the link-table. Each item can itself become a list by linking other items to it.

item number (index)
text

Link-table

The link-table defines the lists the items belong to. Each item can belong to several lists. The position in each list and if the item is checked or unchecked is also defined here so that the item can have different checked and position attributes in each list.

item (item number)
list (item number)
position (in list, number)
check (yes, no)

list table

The list table defines for each list which other lists are shown if you try to link an item to other lists.

How should we limit the list of lists to the most probable lists? (open question) Ideas: Show sublists, define some listbranch

Open questions

How should parentless children be treated? (orphan-items that are in no list because the list(s) got deleted) Ask for list as soon as an orphan is created, delete orphans automatically, or collect orphans in orphan-list?
